How to Sell Your House Faster
Every seller wants to know what the magic formula is to sell your house fast. They think there is some secret out there that if they just knew, would help them be able to find a buyer and get their house sold. Even if they know it sounds a little ridiculous, they still want it to be true.
Well, there’s good news and bad news about selling your house. The bad news is that there isn’t any shortcut, secret, or magic formula to sell your house fast. But the good news is, if you’re willing to put in the time and energy into getting your house to sell, you will find a buyer.
The following tips will help sellers sell your fast (even if they aren’t magic).
Make all the necessary repairs
Most buyers are not looking for a house that needs a lot of work. Honestly, most buyers don’t even want to buy a house that needs a little work. No, they are looking for homes that have been well maintained and/or renovated and are “move-in ready.”
Now, the term “move-in ready” means different things to different people, but for the most part it means these buyers don’t want to lift a finger after closing except to move in their belongings. They don’t want to paint. They don’t want to change the furnace filters right off the bat. And, they definitely don’t want to fix a leaky pipe.
It’s easy to live with maintenance issues when it’s your house because we get “used to them.” But when you are getting ready to sell you need to work through that honey-do list that’s been buried under the pile of papers on your kitchen counter and get to work.
Clean your house thoroughly
Clean houses look better taken care of and are more appealing than messy or dirty houses. Before you put your house on the market, take time to go through each room and declutter.
Remember that you want the buyer to feel comfortable in your house and be able to imagine themselves living there. It becomes a lot easier for them to do this when your personal touches have been removed.
Work on staging your house to keep in and arrange the furniture that will help to sell your house faster, but pack everything else up. You’ll be glad you got that head start when you accept an offer and already have some of your belongings ready to go.
Repaint
A fresh coat of paint is outside of regular maintenance, but it goes a long way in giving your house a new feel. Paint all of the rooms in your house a neutral color. This doesn’t mean white, just a neutral.
Add pops of colors with things like bouquets of flowers, kitchen towels, and throw pillows. Think about what magazine covers look like and then do your best to imitate that with your own belongings and within your budget.
If you follow these three things you will be well on your way to finding a buyer for your house. The last piece of the puzzle is selecting the right listing price. Put all of these ingredients together, and you will sell your house before you know it.
